Types of Hearing Aids — IIC

Completely invisible. Quietly brilliant.

Invisible-in-canal (IIC) hearing aids are custom-moulded to sit deep inside your ear canal, so no one sees them, and you barely feel them.

How it sits

Deep in the canal, where only you know it's there.

eardrum Canal openingIIC shellOuter ear
  1. Custom shell — made from an impression of your ear for a snug, secure seat.
  2. Deep placement — sits near the eardrum, so sound is captured the way your ear naturally collects it.
  3. Removal filament — a tiny pull-handle is the only part you touch.
  4. Tiny battery — small disposable cell, replaced every few days.

Why people choose IIC

Built around total discretion.

👁️

Truly invisible

Sits inside the canal, so it can't be seen from the side.

👂

Natural sound

Deep placement lets your ear's own shape help gather sound.

😷

Nothing to get in the way

No parts behind the ear, so glasses, masks and helmets are unaffected.

🎯

Made for you

Every shell is custom-moulded for comfort and a secure fit.

💨

Less wind noise

Being tucked inside the canal can reduce wind noise on calls and outdoors.

Common questions

Straight answers.

What does IIC stand for?

Invisible-in-canal: a custom hearing aid worn deep in the ear canal so it is not visible from the outside.

Is IIC right for severe hearing loss?

Usually not. IIC suits mild to moderate loss. Severe loss is often better served by a RIE or BTE with more power. A hearing test will confirm.

Does IIC have Bluetooth or rechargeable options?

The tiny size limits battery and features, so many IIC models use small disposable batteries and have limited controls or connectivity. Ask us about the specific model.

Can anyone wear IIC?

Not everyone. It depends on the size and shape of your ear canal, which your audiologist will check during the ear examination.

How much do IIC hearing aids cost?

Pricing depends on the brand, technology level and features. Contact your nearest Audiotone clinic for current pricing.
